Overview

World War I, often referred to as the "Great War," was a global conflict that took place from 1914 to 1918. It involved many of the world's great powers, primarily divided into two opposing alliances: the Allies and the Central Powers. The war was marked by unprecedented scale, destruction, and loss of life, fundamentally reshaping the political, social, and economic landscape of the 20th century. This mass amount of destruction was from the new weapons used by each power. Weapons were made and improved during the 2nd Industrial Revolution. Since these weapons were brand new, World War I generals employed 1860 tactics during the first months of the war. As a result, these generals came to realize the full destructive power of the new weapons. As time went on, new tactics were made to protect friendly troops and kill more enemy troops. I hope to explore the effects of these new weapons and the changing of the tactics of World War I.
